Frequently Asked Questions
Does the final "S" of GPSS stand for Software or Sunninghill?
What hardware and software do I need to run GPSS?
- GPSS runs under Microsoft Windows®, 3.1, 3.11, 95, 98, NT and
2000. Win 3.1 is fine because GPSS is only 16-bit :-( . It is possible
to run on a Mac with Windows emulation. Oh, and you'll probably need a
laptop -- unless you've got a very long extension lead. Your GPS
receiver has to have a National Marine Electronics Association (NMEA)
interface, even if you aren't going to use it on a boat.
Is GPSS unconditionally free-of-charge for personal (non-business) use?
- You'd better check with Robin

How does GPS work?
- By magic. Well, actually there is a scientific explanation
but it's absolutely incredible. If you still want to know there's a
tutorial on the web site of Trimble,
one of the first companies to sell GPS receivers.
